This year it was decided by the social committee, instead of just a welcome back party, some of the resident members would put on a murder mystery play. MURDER AT THE BOWLS CLUB!

Over the summer months rehersals took place, mainly on the roof of Doreen’s apartment. Each week we met along with suporters and copious amounts of liquid both alcoholic and non and the play gradualy took shape not with out a few blips and upsets. (Oh those drama queens!!) But, eventually the date was set, the costumes (Very difficult to arrange!) picked. The Tarty one Connie, the Dowdy one Marjory, the prim one Libby and the Essex girl barmaid Agnes. The men just had to look like bowlers (probably the most difficult casting!).

The venue was the Streets of London  on Saturday 4th October and a meal was arranged and about 70 of our members sat down and waited for the hapless Green Players to make a fool of themselves. The scene was set by our Director/ Producer Diana King and then it was lights, sound, music,( well forget the music, )action!

The plot was Mark (a thouroughly nasty person) had just bought the Bowls Club and proposed to pull it down and build a night club instead. There then followed confrontations with every member of the cast and Mark ended up at the end of act 1 DEAD.

We then had our Dinner and the audience questioned members of the cast, and then guessed which character was guilty of the dirty deed. Diana then apologised for the delay of the police arriving, but explained that there had been a riot at the local fish & chip shop, which the police had had to deal with first. Act 2 then opened with the cast frozen into their positions just before the muder happened, and an Inspector of Police was trying to solve the Murder. As he spoke the cast unfroze and re-enacted the final scene and the Murderer was arrested.

The whole evening was a great sucess and it is hoped that we can put on further productions in the future.
