Peter Steel Memorial Day
On Sunday 28th October 2007 Daphne Steel and her family hosted a day of fun bowling in memory of Peter Steel.
Daphne wanted the members of the Bowls Club to have a day of Fun Bowling in memory of her husband Peter. She had also arranged for the presentation of a Memorial Bench.
The day started well with blue skies and sunshine, Sandy Guthrie and his helper Tony Wright had arranged a competition with 3 sets of 6 ends. But first there was a spider. The competition was a 5,3,2,1, and the winners moved up 2 and the losers down 1.
After the play had finished the prizes were presented. Jan who won the spider grabbed her prize of a tin of sweets, saying “and I just started a diet” but we all noticed that instead of sharing them round, so that she wasn’t tempted, she took them home protesting, she was saving them for Christmas!!
The winners were then presented with their prizes. The winners with the family.
During the speeches Daphne paid tribute to her late husband saying he was the best husband, father in the world and her best friend, who was liked and loved by everyone who knew him. Daphne’s son Gary then asked for everyone stay and enjoy a drink on the family.
They never did tell us what the joke was!!
A quiet moment.
Thank you Daphne for a lovely day we all enjoyed it very much.
