Summer League and Team 11 Presentations 23-08-07
The evening started with a fun 6 end bowling competition.
This was won by Dennis King, Neil Marshall and Murray Johns. After the bowling there was a Skittle and Target Bowls competition, both of which were more difficult than they looked! We were allow 6 woods each with which we had to knock down as many skittles as possible, and on the target bowls there was a target rather like an archery ring, and you had to hope your woods stopped on one of the high scoring rings. After some pitiful scores Barry Pemberton managed to get all ten pins down with just 4 woods, the skittles were then reset and with his last 2 woods he knocked down another 3 skittles. This was enough to win the 1st prize, with Jo Wahlstrand coming second. The target bowls scores were not so high but 2 players got 5 points each and both Rachael and Shirley got a prize.
Whilst the games were being played a delicious buffet was set out in the club house, and members and visitors enjoyed as much as they could eat. When all the fun and games were over Murray Johns and Tony Winterton welcomed the members of the other clubs to this presentation evening and thanked Benavista for arrainging it. They then gave short presentation, in which they said that it looked as though the Federation was now starting to plan ahead, and they were looking forward to the next year when more of the members of Costa del Sol clubs would join.
The last part of the evening was the presentation of the Summer League Trophy and The Team 11 Trophy. This year was the 1st time the Team 11 competition had been played and both Murray and Tony congratulated Benavista for taking the double crown. The Club Captain Dennis King accepted the Trophies on Benavista’s behalf.
By this time it had become too dark to take the team photographs, so Tony Farmer drew the raffle, and then thanked everyone for coming and making such a good evening.
